Little kids start early of knowing their duty of carrying water for their mother. As the child gets older and grows so does the pail get larger. At 13 a young girl can carry up a mountain 5 gal balanced on her head.
This lady had walked one and a half hours to the little spring where each person takes a small bowl and dips out water. She lives up in the mountains and makes the trip 2 times each day. Six hours each day walking plus the waiting in line at the spring as many people use it also.
This school was high in the mountains, in the clouds that day, and 80 children in that one room. Half sat facing one way and the other half the other way with a teacher at each end. No books or paper or pencils, just recitation over and over following the teacher. NOISY!!! and crowded, knee to back and knee to back and elbow to elbow.
They had to walk one and a half hours to find safe drinking water.
Nearly an orphanage every so many blocks (an exaggeration), but there are hundreds and hundreds of babies and young kids in homes from 20 to 80.
This does not look like much of a house but the family of 4 was found in the mountains living in a cave. A small church built them this shelter and W4H built a 16'x16' concrete house.
